Location and Climate:

Mas Perinet is located between the municipalities of La Morera and Cornudella de Montsant, protected by the D.O.Q. Priorat and D.O. Montsant. Currently 33 hectares are dedicated to vineyards: 23 in the D.O.Q. Priorat and the other 10 in the D.O. Montsant. These plantations are located on very steep slopes, opposite the Montsant mountain range, in the most northern area of the Priorat region – the “freshest” area, benefiting from a greater day and night time temperature contrasts thanks to the influences of the sea breezes.



Use of the land where the winery is currently located dates back to the 18th century. A legacy of documents describes Mas Perinet as a property with over 600 hectares of vines, olive trees, almond trees and, later on, hazelnut trees.

The name Mas Perinet comes from the surname of the first owner who was of French extraction. In its beginnings, the property was like a small village whose life revolved around the making of wine from the grapes harvested on the property. Towards the end of the 19th century (particularly in 1894), the devastating effects of phylloxera caused the cultivation of vines to be abandoned. However, thanks to the efforts and enthusiasm of many people, vine cultivation was recovered during the 1950s – a period in which hazelnuts where positioned as an alternative to vines. In 1998, the land was purchased by three Technical Engineers in Agriculture who, being aware of the current agricultural and rural issues, decided to return the winery to its roots by continuing Mas Perinet’s former winemaking project.



Mas Perinet was created with the intention of approaching winemaking in the Priorat region in a different way. They base themselves around a philosophy of respect, sustainability and the inherited knowledge of previous winemaking generations. A combination of traditional and modern techniques, respect for the autochthonous varieties and approaching them with the skills and knowledge used in other regions, Mas Perinet create wines with personality and always seek to improve their quality. The fact their vineyards are located on an outstanding slate terroir allows them to exploit and transfer the individuality of each vintage into their wines, with the maximum discipline and respect, highlighting their elegance, complexity and delicacy.


Planted at altitudes between 350 and 750 metres above sea level, each vine has been arranged in order to obtain the best orientation for each variety. The first plantations were carried out in 1999 with an ecological cultivation philosophy (organic), with all vine cultivation activities being carried out manually. The main varieties cultivated in the Montsant area are Garnacha Blanc, Garnacha Negre and Merlot, with Cariñena, Syrah and Garnacha in the Priorat region.

The care and pruning is customised for each variety to achieve maximum quality grapes with a maximum yield of 1kg per plant. Their old vineyards have three different varieties of Cariñena and Garnacha that are more than 80 years old.
