'Deeply Rooted in Chile.' 

 The name Millaman comes from the Chilean native people, the Mapuches, and means 'Golden Condor'. The Condor is the world's largest flying bird and a symbol of Chilean wildlife. The name represents the winery's commitment to the environment and native species.

The Sagrada Familia area of Curicó Valley has a long standing tradition for premium winemaking dating back to 1800 when the area was first developed. The original 200 hectare estate was bought by the Canepa family in 1940 to which they added mountain hectares and vines in Maipo, Casablanca and Maule. The family residence is a magnificent example of typical colonial style architecture, strategically positioned to overlook the estate. The house, and winery buildings, were build it the 19th century - a long tradition of winemaking at Hacienda El Condor.

Location & Climate
Chile is a blessed winemaking country with natural barriers to prevent diseases, mountainous geography allowing varied sunlight expsoures, varied climates up and down the long, thin land as well as varied soils North to South and East to West. Effectively, Chile is a land of varied terroirs ensuring diverse aromas and flavours even on the same grape varieties from different regions.

Cool breezes come from the Pacific Ocean onto the coast each morning so the western valleys are very cool. During the night, cool breezes come down from the Andes Mountains, refreshing the mountain slopes. The Eastern/ inner side of the country has higher sun exposure. Curicó Valley has a combination of all of these conditions.

Wide temperature Oscillation between day and night and low rain exposure during the year also allows:

  • slow ripening - optimum for aroma and flavour concentration
  • no diseases
  • major concentration of sugar, colour and flavour
  • very high quality fruit
  • very high quality wine 


The mild, frost free climate and moderating effects of the Mataquito River ensure excellent fruit development. A variety of soils allow Millaman to permanently produce wines of great quality and consistency.

Vineyards include: Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec (planted as a field blend in 1939), Merlot, Carmenère, Shiraz, Zinfandel (Millaman are pioneers of this grape in Chile), Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

For Millaman, the production of premium wine begins in the fields. The experienced and well trained team of growers, pruners and harvesters work all year to produce the finest grapes. The winemaking team is led by Alexis Castro and Stefano Gandolini, with extensive experience in Chile, Argentina, Italy, Spain, New Zealand and the U.S.



In 2002, Millaman built a new winery on the site of the original. The 100 year old adobe walls (made from earth and other organic materials) were carefully restored, to keep the original structure. Inside the building, Milliman established a modern and state-of-the-art winery with a vinification capacity of one million litres in stainless steel tanks. The underground cellar has capacity for 250 oak barrels - where the finest wines are aged.

The Wines
Millaman wines compete directly with the very best Chilean and New World wines. The wines are known for their authenticity and varietal expression as well as experimentation on varieties and blends.
  • Millaman Condor
    This range expresses the highest commitment and respect for the fruit. Natural and fresh, soft and expressive, they are the best reflection of each grape variety in Chilean soil.
    Available: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenère.

  • Millaman Estate Reserve
    Fruity and expressive with more concentration that Condor due to lower vineyard yields. A little complexity added by oak ageing.
    Available: Estate Sauvignon Blanc.

  • Millaman Limited Reserve
    Wines produced from carefully selected and hand-picked fruit represening terroir in Curicó, Maipo and Casablanca Valley. Wine are deeply coloured with individual personality, great structure and concentration and representation of variety. Wines are oak aged for 12 months in French barrels.
    Available: Limited Reserve Zinfandel
