Viña Aquitania was established in 1984 by Bruno Prats (Cos d’Estournell) and the late Paul Pontallier (Château Margaux), two well known Bordeaux agronomist and oenologists, with their friend Felipe de Solminihac, one of Chile’s most recognised winemakers. In 2003, Ghislain de Montgolfier, owner of Champagne Bollinger, joined the group. The partners believe strongly in the concept of terroir. Viña Aquitania’s vineyards are located are the foot of the Andes in an area characterised by rocky, well-drained soil. The Vine roots grow deep and the unique microclimate allows good exposure to sunlight with warms days, cool nights and no rainfall during ripening or havesting.
